Your e-bike’s range depends on a few things - road conditions, weather, the assist level you choose, and the rider weight. So your range can vary from day to day. The good news? Each of our e-bike batteries offers plenty of power for everyday rides, weekly commutes, and weekend adventures.

Battery safety: charge smart, ride safe

A powerful battery deserves proper care. With the right charging habits, you’ll extend your battery’s lifespan, stay safe, and keep your ride performing at its best.

Here’s what to keep in mind:

1. Pick the right charging spot
✔ Charge indoors, away from rain or humidity
✔ Keep the battery uncovered so it can cool naturally
✔ Place it on a stable, non-flammable surface (not a couch or bed)

2. Treat your cable with care
✔ Don’t twist or fold it too tightly
✔ Check that the charger is properly plugged in
✔ If the cable looks damaged → get a replacement for free at a Swapfiets store.

3. Quick check before you plug in
✔ No dents, swelling or leaks in the battery
✔ Make sure the contact is clean and dry
✔ Only use the official Swapfiets charger

4. Know when to unplug
✔ Remove the charger once the battery hits 100%
✔ Avoid charging overnight if possible  - it’s just easier to keep an eye on things when you’re nearby.
✔ If you notice unusual heat, smell or noise → unplug immediately and request a replacement in a Swapfiets store.

5. Keep it happy, keep it healthy
✔ Just like a phone, avoid letting your battery drop below 20% or charging it to 100% every time to keep it healthy longer.
✔ Avoid letting it drain to 0%
✔ Don’t leave it in extreme heat or freezing cold
